SL56 - Dual Keyboard Lightwriter with speech synthesiser
Dual keyboard Lightwriters permit continuous two-way communication with the communication partner. They are designed to allow people without speech or hearing to communicate directly with people who do not use sign language, and have also been found very suitable to some people with autism.
The user types on one keyboard and their message appears on both displays. The person they are communicating with reads the message on the second display and responds on the second keyboard; each message appearing simultaneously on each display, and also spoken if a speech synthesiser is fitted.
Memories can be used for rapid recall of frequently used words and phrases, and also to enable the user to explain to the other person that they can neither hear nor speak and would like the other person to type in their replies after they have read each message.
The SL56 includes is a dual keyboard Lightwriter with speech synthesiser to assist communication with hearing people, allow outgoing communication over the phone, and for multi-disability environments.
Available with DECtalk speech synthesis (English only), and Acapela speech synthesis for higher quality English and a range of European Languages.
