Marie chose a Lightwriter

Marie is 16 years old and is a girl on a mission to be independent in all aspects of her life. Marie struggles to be understood by people who do not know her and at times this could affect her school, home, and most importantly her social life!

After trying several symbol-based communication aids, and despite having slightly limited literacy skills, Marie took to a Lightwriter and now will not be parted with it. Marie has her Lightwriter mounted on the wheelchair table top. Alongside are her mobile phone and the list of memories she has stored to speed up her use of her equipment. As she moves onto college Marie says ‘I feel happy I can make new friends and I can use my Lightwriter if they cannot understand me!’
